    Salary: Up to £25,000 dependent on experience + 3% flexible benefits + on target bonus of 5% + contributory pension

    Lowell Solicitors is a law firm, approved and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, which operates independently from but is a member of the Lowell Group. Lowell Solicitors provide litigation services to the group and to our external third party clients.

    Lowell is already a leading player in the litigation arena and it is our aim to have the most integral, efficient, cost effective litigation capability in the industry, allowing us to maximise liquidation of existing accounts using legal action where appropriate.

    We’re now looking for a Paralegal to join our growing team.

    You’ll be responsible for:
    •Pro-actively manage defended or complex cases in order to resolve disputes, mitigate costs and protect the reputation of the firm and its clients.
    •Ensure that all internal and external deadlines are managed and achieved, including court hearings and filing dates.
    •Effectively instruct agents in respect to attendance at hearings, in order to protect our client’s position.
    •Liaise with Lowell Client Services and clients to ensure that appropriate evidence is obtained to prove debt in defended actions.
    •Make recommendations to line manager concerning commercial and legal decisions about case strategy and options for settlement.
    •Drafting legal documents, agreements, legal letters, complaints and other correspondence.
    •Ensure that case files are maintained for defended actions and other customer matters, so that information is up to date and easily available.
    •Provide management information in relation to their work,

    You’ll need to evidence the following qualifications, skills and experience:
    •Experience within a consumer litigation environment, internal legal collections department, complaints or solicitors practice is desirable
    •Educated to GCSE Grade C standard including Maths and English or equivalent.
    •Qualified by experience.
    •Desirable - Studying towards/achieved – Law degree, ILEX, LPC, BPTC.
    •Sound technical knowledge of legal issues around consumer credit and collections.
    •Excellent commercial understanding and decision-making ability.
    •Ability to identify and achieve creative solutions to problems and disputes.
    •Thoroughness and close attention to detail.
    •Motivated and able to pro-actively manage cases on own initiative.
    •Ability to work under pressure to meet the deadlines.
    •Highly organised with strong administration skills.
    •Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and across all functions.
    •Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
    •Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    •Understanding of SRA codes of conduct
    •Understanding of FCA rules
